Author Guidelines

Language and Content

Esurio is committed to encouraging critical dialogue and welcomes submissions from a diversity of perspectives, especially those from oppressed groups. However, all contributors should pay particular attention to avoiding discriminatory and oppressive language, content and inferences. Submissions that do not take this policy into account and are not sensitive to anti-discriminatory and/or anti-oppressive priorities will not be published.

Esurio will not knowingly publish material that is oppressive in content or style and the editorial board will assess how this statement is enacted.  We welcome responses to this statement and our published material in relation to this statement.

All articles should be written in English and use clear, jargon-free language friendly to both academic and non-academic readers.  Language does not need to be oversimplified or leave out essential information, but should make the content widely accessible.

Length of Submissions, Title Page, Abstract

Submissions should not exceed 5,000 words. Each article must be accompanied by a:

  •       title page with author(s) name, position/affiliation, institution or community, correspondence address, and email address
  •       150-200 word abstract

Author Identity and Co-Authorship

To ensure that the review process is blind, please note that with the exception of title page, the remainder of the manuscript should be free of the author(s) name.  Where the author(s) name appear in the manuscript, they should be replaced with the word ‘author'.

In cases where there is more than one author, one of the contributors should act as a point of contact with the editors.  The same contributor will have their contact details published in the journal for the purposes of allowing reader correspondence. The Editors and the Editorial Board will assume that the person serving as the point of liaison has authority to act on behalf of other named authors.

Condition of Submission

It is a condition of submission that all manuscripts must be original works not previously published elsewhere in any format and must not be held in consideration for publication elsewhere without the knowledge of the editors, and that it will not be sent for such consideration without prior notification of the editors.
